  • National Banana Day!

    National Banana Day!

Wednesday, May 1, 2019 All Day
    Australia-wide

    It's National Banana Day, yay!

This inaugural National Banana Day celebrates the amazing benefits of the nutrient-rich banana fruit. It's a special day too for the Nambucca Valley as bananas have been grown in the area since the 1930s.

During the Great Depression, jobs were few and far between, so many young men in the district sort their livelihood from banana plantations. Hence today many hill slopes across the valley either still grow bananas or bear the signs of having grown bananas in the past.
