Nambucca Valley Arts Council and Stringer Gallery
The Nambucca Valley Arts Council (NVAC) has been serving residents and
visitors to the Nambucca Valley for over 30 years. The organisation exists to promote and encourage art, music and drama in the Nambucca Valley.
The Stringer Gallery is located in the Nambucca Community and Arts Centre on Ridge Street, Nambucca Heads between the Post Office and the Library. It is managed by the Nambucca Valley Arts Council. The gallery showcases work by local artists and themed exhibitions change on a regular basis. There are always works on display in all media and at very reasonable prices.
The Nambucca Community and Arts Centre started life as a historic building dating from 1896. It was originally called ‘The School of Arts”. Following a fire in 1937 there was substantial re-building and the facade was constructed in its present “Art Deco” style. The gallery section of the building was added to commemorate the Bicentennial Year in 1988.
The gallery is open Wednesday to Friday from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm and Saturday morning from 9.30 am to 12.00 pm.
All work in the gallery is for sale and lay-by facilities are always available. A range of greetings cards made by local artists are also on display and gift tokens can be purchased.
The Nambucca Valley Arts Council also organise a programme of concerts to which all members of the public are invited. Membership of the Nambucca Valley Arts Council is open to artists, music and drama lovers and all those interested in artistic expression.
