Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm & Saturday 9 am till 12 noon

Nambucca Shire Mayor, Rhonda Hoban officially launched the Matilda Street Gallery in early December with more than 100 guests attending the event at the new exhibition space at Macksville. Artworks by thirty local artists including painting, drawing, photography, glass, ceramics, fibre, textiles, assemblage and surfboards are on show in the new “Summer Sessions” exhibition. The theme “Summer Sessions” encapsulates everything about summer from relaxing water scenes to surfing, including the works of surf culture icons; Albe Falzon, Frank Pithers, Mark Sutherland and Mitchell Rae. Rhonda Hoban congratulated the artists on their diverse and beautiful art and gallery owner, Eddie Frankel on his work in creating the new venue for the artists. Rhonda also emphasised the importance of the space as a cultural and economic opportunity for artists and the local community as well as for tourists visiting the Nambucca Valley.

Owner Eddie Frankel said “The gallery provides a space for artists to exhibit and sell their work. The Matilda Street Gallery is a great place to visit and support and we encourage people looking for Christmas gifts and gifts in general, to get creative by supporting the community by buying local artworks that are original and handmade in the Nambucca Valley”.

The Summer Sessions Exhibition runs from December 3rd till February 16th, 2012 and the exhibiting artists include; Douglas Boyd, Natalie Bateman, Chris Campbell, Nancy Chapple, Dani Danaher, Annette Edwards, Albert Falzon, Mary Forbes, Lynne Greentree, Kristin Hardiman, Sally Hook, Christine Maria Jarrett, Shirley Laverty, Ian Moule, Diana O’Donnell, Tricia Philp, Joyce Pike, Frank Pithers, Mitchell Rae, Bronwyn Rodden, Stuart Simshauser, Christine Stewart, Christa Schwoebel, Mark Sutherland, Lindsay Turner, Sara Wade, Pingala Walsh, Glen Alan Wilkinson, Mark Winter & Robyn Wren.
