Hands On Bowraville

Have you been to Bowraville lately?  Thursday 18December is your opportunity to experience all Bowraville has to offer at the first Bowraville Open Day, “Hands On Bowraville”.

Having recently received funding from the Department of State and Regional Development and Nambucca Shire Council to develop tourism in Bowraville the local community have started working together to boost the towns offerings both to tourists and locals.

“It’s easy to overlook the offerings of your local community” said local tourism project coordinator Kerry Grace

“There is so much to do in Bowraville, it has an authentic sense of culture from the museums to the galleries through to culture of the Gumbaynggirr people. My children love visiting the museum and galleries where we feel comfortable exploring the many and varied hands on activities and learning experiences.

Kerry says that cultural tourism in Bowraville is emerging and its only a matter of time before new Indigenous business enterprise is seen in the community.

“I’ve seen some of the creative products made in our town and they are of very high quality. Some very talented local Indigenous artists are selling works at the local art gallery and there are new groups in dance, craft and art emerging.”

Bowraville welcomes you to drop in for the open day on 18 December. Try some of Renae’s famous handmade chocolates, pick up some new treats for your home at the Bowraville Art Gallery, or one of the local gift shops and don’t forget to put aside some time to check out the theatre and the massive hands on museum collections (with free tickets on offer for the day).

For more information please visit www.bowraville.nsw.au or phone Kerry Grace on 0404887473
